HELP

REQUESTS

VOLUNTEERS:

WE ARE IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS that have their police clearance with CBE.

Our Zoo Field trip will be on May 17th and our Bridge Walk will be on May 25th. We need at least 2-3 more volunteers fo reach of them. Please email me if you can come and I will send home the volunteer consent form. Thank you.

PHOTOS:

As this is our Grade 3 students' last year at Le Roi Daniels school, we would like to make a slideshow featuring our students as babies. This will be a sweet way to say farewell to Grade 3s and showcase how our world's future is in the hands of these babies. I am asking parents to please email ONE baby photo of your child over the two days so we can compile and make a slideshow. Please email me if you have any questions. PLEASE EMAIL PHOTOS BY FRIDAY! I know this is a quick turnaround, but I appreciate your support.

CONCERT REMINDERS - THURSDAY, APRIL 21

- ALL students must be in FORMAL UNIFORM on Thursday. They must wear formal uniform to school during the day on Thursday for the dress rehearsal and at night for the final performance. Please ensure your child has dark sock and or tights (no holes). They must also have their green sweaters.

- The night of the concert, you will keep your child's shoes and jackets with you at your seat. They will be on stage without shoes...which is why it is so important they have navy socks and/or tights without any holes. No leggings or jogging pants as always with formal uniform.

- Students must arrive at the church between 6-615pm.

- Please note that I will not be there as I will be out of town. A familiar sub/teacher will be taking my place. She has been at the school for many practices so is aware of what is happening.

- Please make sure that you are reading all of Mrs. Taylor's updates and emails.

- Tickets were sent home with your child today. Please check their backpack/yellow folders.

Auditions for the School Play

Dear Parents of Grade 2 & 3 Students,

We are very excited to begin our rehearsals and practices for our Spring Production which will be held, Covid dependent, on April 21, 2022 in the evening. If Covid regulations do not allow for an in-person performance, it will be recorded and sent to parents to enjoy as a family.

We are giving grade 2 and 3 students the opportunity to audition for a speaking part in this production. If your child is interested in auditioning and you are NOT going to be away for any extended absences/holidays between Jan 10 - April 21, please have your child memorize the line on the following page from our upcoming play, Willy Wonka.

They will have the opportunity to share their line, with expression and in a projected voice, on the following dates:

Rm 4, 16, 17 on Monday January 17

Rm 5, 6, 18 on Tuesday January 18

Rm 7, 8, 19 on Thursday, January 20

Rm 3, 14, 15 on Monday January 24

Once auditions are completed, students will be notified if they have received a speaking part and receive their script to practice at home no later than January 26. Practices will happen at school during various lunch hours until the production in April.

See the next page, for audition instructions and lines to memorize.

Thank you for your help and support as we prepare for this production. We look forward to seeing all of you as parents on April 21 as all students at LRD will be performing throughout the evening.

Audition Script

Practice the lines below. Be prepared to act it out for your audition. You are not auditioning for a specific role. These lines will give us an idea of your strengths in acting, to be considered for any role in the play. Please be very enthusiastic so we can see your full potential!

Violet:

I’m a gum chewer, normally, but when I heard about Wonka’s contest, I laid off the gum and switched to candy bars. Now of course I’m right back on gum. In fact, I’ve been working on this piece for over three months solid. I’ve beaten the record set by my best friend, Miss Cornelia Prinzmetal. Hi Cornelia, listen to this…

(Violet chews loudly into the microphone)

Violet:

That’s the sound of you losing! Listen some more…

(Violet chews even more loudly, adding smacks and pops.)

___________________________________________________________________

Thank you for auditioning for the play! Remember, even if you don’t get an acting role, you will still be part of the production singing songs with your class.

Reminder:

Auditions will be held at lunch, during your “outside time.” Students in grade 3 will come to the Gym office as soon as lunch starts, then go back to class to eat. Students in grade 2 will eat their lunch, then come to the Gym office for their audition.

The audition schedule is as follows:

Rm 4, 16, 17 on Monday January 17

Rm 5, 6, 18 on Tuesday January 18

Rm 7, 8, 19 on Thursday, January 20

Rm 3, 14, 15 on Monday January 24
